Who Is John Melendez?
John Melendez is an American media personality. He is a comedian, singer, actor, television writer, radio personality, announcer, and podcast host. John is famously known for being on The Howard Stern Show from 1988 to 2004.
John started out as an intern. He became known for asking celebrities impertinent questions at events and press conferences with his stuttering. John left the show to become the announcer on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and also worked on Leno’s later shows. He launched The Stuttering John Podcast in April 2018.

John Melendez Podcast
As already stated, John launched his new podcast, The Stuttering John Podcast in April 2018. A notable highlight during his podcast is on June 28, 2018. John prank-called the White House by pretending to be an assistant to the Senator from New Jersey, Bob Menendez. Ultimately, John received a call back from President Donald Trump as he was traveling on Air Force One.
Interestingly, John then impersonated Senator Menendez and had a four-minute conversation focusing on immigration reform and the Supreme Court vacancy. This made The White House confirm the security breach. John announced that he had retained lawyer Michael Avenatti to represent him in relation to the prank call on July 2, 2018. This was after being visited by Secret Service agents over the previous weekend.
John Melendez Jay Leno | Tonight Show
John reunited with Leno and former Tonight bandleader Kevin Eubanks as a member of the writing staff on The Jay Leno Show in September 2009. Leno stated that John would appear in comedy segments during the show and that the new show would not have a studio announcer. This was after he was asked about John’s new role.
John continued in the writing role, which he had previously performed on The Jay Leno Show with the return of Leno’s Tonight Show in March 2010. However, he did not return as an announcer on the second incarnation of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He was employed as a staff writer and occasional on-air segment host until Leno’s
departure from The Tonight Show on February 6, 2014.
