An American journalist who covers politics and administration, Kent Justice co-anchors News4Jax’s weekday newscasts at 5 p.m., 10 p.m., and 11 p.m. The hot topics and political public affairs program “This Week in Jacksonville,” which airs on Channel 4 every Sunday at 9 a.m., is also hosted by him.
Kent spends time talking with community leaders, businesspeople, and nonprofit organizers about the important issues in our region.
Kent has covered inaugurations, national political party conventions, and local elections for public office as a political reporter (and everything in between). In a countrywide debate between Florida governors that was broadcast on television, Kent moderated the discussion alongside Jake Tapper for CNN.
2014 saw Rick Scott and Charlie Crist. Prior to the primary election, Kent most recently moderated a debate or forum featuring Florida’s top gubernatorial contenders. During an unusual three debates in three evenings in August 2016, he also moderated debates for candidates for state attorney and congressional Districts 4 and 5.
From the moment he came in Northeast Florida in 2010, Kent has been involved in civic activities. In 2019, he became a member of the Civic Orchestra of Jacksonville’s board of directors. Formerly overseeing 31 counties, Kent oversaw the board of directors for the Alzheimer’s Association Central and North Florida Chapter.
In addition, Kent volunteers as a pastor and musician at the church he attends in St. Johns County. He also supports the National Brain Tumor Society, Mayo Clinic, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, UF Health Night for Heroes, and National Philanthropy Day with events.
Kent has provided updates from Columbus, Ohio, Santa Barbara and the Central Coast in California, South Dakota, and Montana. At the age of 17, Kent began working as a sports journalist for a major newspaper chain in the San Francisco region.
