MMU Students Mourn Lameck Wambua

At midnight, under the cover of darkness, there was a tragedy at Multimedia University of Kenya (MMU). One of their beloved students, Lameck Wambua, had been discovered dead just outside the campus by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) area. MMU Students are FURIOUS…

The students were informed it was a road accident but did not believe it. They sought answers, and their calls for justice echoed up and down the corridors of MMU, and a chain reaction of demonstrations soon began to stir that would become the national focal point very quickly.

The Night That Changed Everything

It was the 9th of March, 2025, that the students heard about Lameck’s death like wildfire on the campus. They gathered in unison in dejected groups and shared hushed whispers of despair and indignation. How would a young one’s life be so brutally snuffed out?

The authorities chalked it up right away as a road mishap, but the students did not quite buy it. Word started spreading around—murder? Was something more at work here than appeared?

Lameck was not just a run-of-the-mill student; he was a buddy, a commander, and an inspiration to so many. Not only was his death a tragedy, but it was also a wake-up call.

The students were pushed to the brink, and their call for additional security had fallen on deaf ears for far too long. That was the point of no return.

The Call to Action

By morning, the campus was an emotional tinderbox. Yasulu Kaplan Olsari, the Secretary General of the student body, issued a statement demanding an emergency investigation.

“We will not rest until we know the truth,” she declared. The students all followed behind her, demanding one thing: justice for Lameck. The students mobilized themselves, staging a peaceful demonstration to compel the authorities to respond.

They needed to be admitted to the mortuary; they needed answers, and they needed clarity. But would the authorities listen to their cry?

The Protest That Shook the Nation

March 10th, 2025, was the day the town of Rongai was filled with the voices of MMU students. With placards in hand and anger in hearts, they filled the streets of the town, their message very clear:

#JusticeForLameck. Social media lost its mind as hashtags such as #OccupyStatehouse and #RutoMustGo filled the social media platforms, as the protest made national news.

The atmosphere was tense. Students shared their stories, their fears, and their rage. “We’ve been neglected for far too long,” a student screamed through a megaphone. “This is not all about Lameck; it’s about us. We deserve to feel secure!”

The Authorities’ Response

As the protest grew in power, tensions grew. The local government and university officials were caught off guard. Declarations were made, promising to investigate and increase security measures, but they were not believed by the students.

They had heard it all before, and they were not going to let it go without a fight. Everyone was wondering: would the protest lead to actual change, or was it just more talk and no action?

What Happens Next?

With the sun setting on March 10th, the students returned to campus, high spirits but firm determination. The protest had made the papers, but the war was far from over. The investigation into the death of Lameck had only just begun, and the students were set to do whatever it took to get to the bottom of it.

Will the powers that be finally listen? Will justice prevail? Or will it be another heartbreaking story brushed under the carpet? The MMU students are not going to let that happen.

Why This Story Matters

This is not the story of one student or one university. This is the story of collective action, the fight for justice and the courage to stand against injustice. The MMU students have shown that together, they can shake the very foundations of power and effect change.

So, will they get the justice they are demanding? Only time will tell. But one thing is certain: the world is watching, and the MMU students are not giving up.
