Browne won recognition for her on-the-spot reporting from the scene of Colin Ferguson’s shooting on the Long Island Rail Road and for her spontaneous reporting on the crash of TWA Flight 800.
After the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, Browne broadcast live from Manhattan to chronicle the inquiry. She reported from Washington, D.C., on federal matters impacting Long Island. Browne also reported on state politics from Albany, New York, and from the UN during global crises.
The 3-hour morning news program, which had the station’s highest rating, was co-anchored by her.
