Who is Richard Engel?
Richard Engel is an American journalist and also an author. He has served as the chief foreign correspondent for NBC News since April 18, 2008. He joined the station in May 2003 serving as Beirut bureau chief and Middle East correspondent. Previously he worked for ABC News as a freelance journalist in Baghdad. He reported on the start of the 2003 war in Iraq. Additionally, he is famous for covering the Iraq War the Arab Spring, and the Syrian Civil War.

He later went to ABC News as a freelance journalist. Additionally, he covered the prime invasion of Iraq by US forces. Moreover, he moved to NBC serving as a primary Iraq correspondent. He also covered the war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon serving as a senior Middle East correspondent and Beirut bureau chief in 2006. Later in 2008, he was named Chief Foreign Correspondent of NBC News, and in May 2008. Engel also interviewed US President George W. Bush in his speech to the Israel Knesset.
Moreover, in 2009, Engel covered the August presidential election in Kabul Afghanistan. Additionally, he reported on the Egyptian revolution in 2011. He was nearly shit while reporting the Lyban Civil War. Similarly, in the same year, Engel toured and reported on the city of Mogadishu Somalia. On August 18, 2022, he tweeted that their beloved son Henry had departed. Henry had the softest blue eyes an easy smile and a contagious giggle. Additionally, his tweet also had a link to a page on the Texas Children’s Hospital site. It explained Henry’s medical journey and how he was affected by Rett syndrome. He passed away at the age of six years old.
