Who is Rob Perillo?

Rob Perillo is a licensed meteorologist in the United States. He presently works as a weather forecaster for the ABC/CW+ affiliate Acadiana’s News Channel on KATC-TV3.

Rob has made numerous appearances on storm and weather specials that have aired on the Learning, Discovery, National Geographic, and Weather Channels throughout his professional career.

He recorded the Space Shuttle Columbia catastrophe and provided CBS and CNN with live national television footage.

Rob has talked about the state of climate change and TV meteorologists’ perspectives in interviews with the Weather Channel for “Cantore Stories – Life on the Bayou” and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Rob is currently the Acadiana News Channel’s Chief Meteorologist for KATC-TV3. He has been predicting Acadiana’s weather for more than 33 years. Throughout his tenure, Rob has also monitored a large number of hurricanes and hundreds of tropical storms.

He has reported on major storms that have hit Louisiana, including Ike, Andrew, Gustav, Lili, Rita, and Katrina. Rob is the most esteemed meteorologist in the state and the recipient of over 25 Associated Press honors.

In Louisiana and Mississippi, these awards are given in the categories of “Best Weathercast,” “Breaking Weather,” and “Best Meteorologist.” Rob was also named 2020 Broadcaster of the Year by the National Tropical Weather Conference.

He was the only local broadcast television meteorologist to be recognized as a contender for the coveted National Weather Person of the Year award in 2021. Since the late 1980s, Rob has not only anchored regional weathercasts but also worked as an aviation forecaster for Air Routing International.

Rob worked for Wilkens Weather Technologies in Houston, Texas, and was also a Marine and an Industrial Meteorologist. At the State University of New York Research Foundation, Rob began his career as a weather forecaster.

He worked at numerous nuclear power reactors in Upstate New York as an emergency planning meteorologist. Rob also works in the legal sector as a forensic meteorology expert witness.
