Who is Steve Physioc?

Steve Physioc is now a retired American sportscaster. A play-by-play announcer for various teams. Ranging from baseball to basketball. Not forgetting football teams. Of late he is focused on writing since retiring from broadcasting. Besides, he enjoys time with his grandchildren.

Physioc proceeded to retire while working with the Kansas City Royals. Notably,  he had worked with Royals since February 2012.

Steve was hired to call games part-time by the Kansas City Royals on television. Ultimately being reunited with former Angel’s partner Hudler. Physioc was a fiction author and a radio-TV broadcaster for the Kansas City Royals.

Well with over a decade in broadcasting, Steve announced his retirement from it. Physioc announcing this in November 2022. Just before appearing Wednesday night at the Topeka and Shawnee Co. Public Library. Steve visited Eye on NE Kansas.

Upon having enjoyed a front-row seat for several decades it was time to retire. Retiring from both radio and television. Steve said the season had had a full swing. Admitting the baseball season has been a bit different. However, he remarked maybe he was not paying as close attention as he perhaps should be.

Steve says he’s turned his attention to his new passions. His three granddaughters stand out among them. Physioc is also spending much of his time researching and writing.

Steve won an Emmy in 2013 for his play-by-play work. Along with broadcasting Big East College Basketball for Fox Sports in the winter. Already been honored with several awards for his writing.

Steve Physioc Married | Wife

Steve is married to Stace. They live in the Kansas City area. The couple loves to visit and spend time with their children. They take this advantage to bond with their three grandchildren. That is while visiting Ryan and Kevin.

Steve Physioc Education

Steve graduated from Kansas State University in 1977. It is believed Physioc attended high in the locality. As he grew up as a Kansas City Royals fan in Merriam, Kansas.

Steve Physioc Career

Steve set out as a Sports Director for KHAS radio in Hastings, Nebraska. Physioc was covering local high school and Hastings College athletics. Later,  he went on to become the radio voice of Kansas State Wildcats football and basketball.  This was between 1979–1982.

On leaving K-State, Mitch Holthus took over. Steve was also a Sports Anchor on WIBW-TV in Topeka during the late 1970s and early ’80s.  He worked alongside Jerry Springer at WLWT in Cincinnati too during this period.

Importantly, Physioc has been telling stories for the past 40 years.  Much effort was on peppering each broadcast with details to bring the viewer or listener closer to the game. Capitalizing on being a skillful play-by-play announcer for football, basketball, and baseball.

Steve Physioc Professional Sports Announcing

Steve remarkably and formerly began his major league play-by-play announcing career in 1983. Broadcasting both Cincinnati Bengals football and Cincinnati Reds baseball games. The position he held until 1987.

Moving on to serve as San Francisco Giants announcer for KTVU-TV from 1987 to 1988. Not forgetting to mention his work for ESPN (1989–1995), announcing Major League Baseball. Besides, college basketball, baseball, and Big Ten football.

Steve was hired by the Anaheim Angels in 1996. Announcing baseball games for their local telecasts. Heartbreakingly, he was released from the Angels’ broadcast crew in 2009. Physioc along with longtime partner Rex Hudler. Thus ending his 13 years of service with the club.

Steve Physioc Basketball | Football

Steve as a play-by-play basketball announcer made various appearances. Mostly when baseball was off-season. Sometimes appearing as a guest announcer. This made him appear with different kinds of partners. Steve was appearing on Fox Sports Net for a play-by-play of Pac-12 and Big-12 football games.

Steve Physioc Books

Steve is working on his fifth. He has already authored four novels. Stace, his wife is the inspiration for Isabella in his novels The Walls of Lucca and Above the Walls.

Author, The Walls of Lucca, a historical novel set in post-World War I Italy (2018). Above the Walls (2019), a sequel. Walks with the Wind (2021) is too from him.

Steve had a dream in 2006 while vacationing in Italy with his wife. Interestingly, a week later he came across a city that looked exactly like what he had dreamt about. This triggered research on Lucca’s history. A deeper thought and running motion gave birth to a story.
